South Dallas Sustainability Framework Plan

Urban resilience is often a matter of infrastructure equity. This strategic analysis of a historically disinvested neighborhood in South Dallas identifies the critical intersections where environmental vulnerability meets social necessity. The project moves beyond aesthetics, focusing on how the built environment can actively mitigate urban heat and infrastructure neglect.

The Groundwork:

  • Vulnerability Mapping: Utilized ArcGIS Pro to map thermal islands and infrastructure "deserts," providing a data-driven foundation for intervention.

  • Ecological Adaptation: Proposed a district-wide framework for native reforestation and permeable surfaces to reduce the urban heat island effect.

  • Connectivity Strategy: Reimagined underutilized ROW (Right of Way) as multi-functional green infrastructure, reconnecting fragmented neighborhoods through sustainable design.
